Sweet baby McKenna came to visit me a back in July for her newborn photography session. I have to say, I consider myself pretty lucky to be able to do what I love. I had always dreamed of working with newborn babies and sometimes I can’t believe that it’s really happening! When I worked in the office I felt like a grouch getting up in the morning for work… and now, I can’t wait to get to the studio to photograph a brand new baby that was just born into this world! Sure, like any job, it can be stressful at times as no two sessions are ever alike… sometimes I get a really sleepy baby, and other times I get a baby who had different plans for our session, lots of late night editing, and weekend and evening hours. But in the end, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I always recommend parents contact me early on in their pregnancy to book their due date. After your newborn baby arrives we will set a firm day and time for your newborn photography session to take place. If you are having a scheduled c section, we can then set a firm date when you book. One of the biggest tips to getting your newborn baby to sleep during their newborn photography session is having them come to me before the age of two weeks. In my experience I believe day 5-10 id best. When babies are brand new they sleep a lot, and they sleep pretty soundly. After two weeks they may still be sleepy, but they are more likely to sleep less soundly during our photography session and may give a little fuss (or more than a little fuss) while trying to get them to pose into those newborn images you see on my website. It all depends on the baby and what their plans are that day.
Baby McKenna was just 8 days new when I photographed her. She was such a dream baby! I hope you enjoy some of the images from her session.
